PHONE BRAIN

About PhoneBrain

Overview

PhoneBrain is a one-stop shop where teens can find everything they need to know about phone-paid services (such as ringtones, competitions and television voting).

PhoneBrain also covers fun stuff that young people can get involved in at school, like creating personalised mobile ringtones using industry-standard Adobe software, cool music provided by Moshi Moshi Records and artwork provided by Habbo, the virtual world and social networking site for teens. Students can also enter the PhoneBrain Ringtone Competition, to be in with a chance to win tickets to see THE X FACTOR live. Follow this link for more info on the Ringtone Competition.

There's also a PhoneBrain Enterprise Competition – run in conjunction with social enterprise charity Live UnLtd – challenging students to come up with their own brilliant ideas for completely new phone-paid services that have a community or social benefit.

Students can enter the Enterprise Competition as individuals or teams (of up to four). Winners will be chosen across three different age groups (11-13, 14-16 and 17-19),between the ages of 11-19and will receive an award of £500 per student from Live UnLtd to help develop their ideas and turn them in to reality. Also, as well as the cash awards, Live UnLtd will provide ongoing help and support to winners in other ways. Follow this link for more info on the Enterprise Competition.

As a teacher, you can download free lesson plans and other teaching resources from this site that link in with specific, curriculum-relevant ICT and Enterprise learning objectives and incorporate the ringtone creation and Enterprise Competition elements.

PhoneBrain has also received the support of the Department for Children, Schools and Families for 2010.
