About Phonebrain
Overview
PhoneBrain is a one-stop shop where teens can find everything they need to know about phone-paid services (such as ringtones, competitions and television voting).
PhoneBrain also covers fun stuff that young people can get involved in, like creating personalised mobile ringtones using industry-standard Adobe software, cool music provided by FUGATIVE and Hard2Beat Records, and images provided by Habbo (the virtual world and social networking site for teens). Follow this link for more details on the ringtone-creation challenge and associated competition.
There's also a PhoneBrain Enterprise Competition challenging students to come up with their own brilliant ideas for completely new phone-paid services – with the winners receiving the chance to meet and get tips from 16-year music artist and entrepreneur FUGATIVE. Follow this link for more info on the Enterprise Competition and FUGATIVE.
As a teacher, you can download free lesson plans and other teaching resources from this site that link in with specific, curriculum-relevant ICT and Enterprise learning objectives and incorporate the ringtone creation and enterprise competition elements.
PhoneBrain has also received the support of the Department for Children, Schools and Families for 2010.
The DCSF supports PhoneBrain 2010. PhoneBrain sees teachers, regulators and industry working together to bring the latest technologies and new forms of media to life in the classroom and help deliver ICT and enterprise. With lesson plans devised by teachers for teachers and the latest technology provided by industry, PhoneBrain delivers a clear message to young people: be sure and be confident about what you buy on your phone. PhoneBrain doesn’t dampen the excitement that young people naturally feel about new technologies such as mobile phones. But it also makes them aware of any potential pitfalls, so allowing them to use such technology safely and with confidence.
